The short version
Songbird Reader collects nothing. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your device
- Readers' names (or nicknames), bird buddies and grades
- Stars, birds and where each reader left off
- Settings such as sound, speed and voice style
These are stored in your browser on this device only. Clearing your browser's site data removes them. Backup files are created on your device and go only where you put them.
The microphone
The singing steps ask to use the microphone, and you can say no or turn it off. The sound is analysed on the device to compare notes, then thrown away. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
The voice
The reading voice is your device's own built-in voice. Some browsers may use their maker's online voices; the words sent are only the song lyrics, never anything about your child.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard short-term server logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the service. We don't use them to identify anyone.
Children's privacy
Because we collect no personal information, there is nothing for us to share, sell or lose. If you have any question, email [email protected].
